Children & Young People 1-1 Counselling & Psychotherapy
Children & young people between the ages of 5 and 16 may use my counselling & psychotherapy service. The service is quite similar to that of adult 1-1 counselling, in that the focus is always on the child's wellness and experience. Children's & young people's counselling & psychotherapy would be for a child or young person struggling with issues like stress or anxiety, family change like a parental divorce, or academic pressure, but this is not exclusive as it could range from issues like that of adults, which all may need to be taken into consideration.
The first step is to schedule a consultation, which typically lasts around an hour. It will be an opportunity for you to get to know me and for me to learn more about your child or young person and their problem. It is also an opportunity for your child/young person to assess whether I am the proper fit for them, as well as an opportunity to assess where your child/young person will be once sessions begin.
A session booking will be created as soon as the contract is signed, and sessions will start as soon as possible for you. Normally, I recommend starting with 6 sessions, although this is not a requirement. After the third session, I will ask you the parents or guardians to stay for the final 15 minutes to discuss whether they have noticed any changes, progress, or other developments so that I can decide what can be done going forward. This will continue 3 weekly until your child has finished sessions.
